Forklift (Novice)


Course Details:
Suitable for drivers with experience but who have no certificate or formal training. Up-Skill recognise an experienced driver as someone with more than 6 months experience driving a forklift truck. Please make sure you know the type of truck you wish to be trained on before making a booking.

Objectives:
On completion of the course participants will be able to:
•Operate a forklift safely, reducing the risk of injury to operators and pedestrians
•Use of safe operating habits
•Explain the consequences of taking certain kinds of chances
•Load and unload safely
•Refuel/recharge forklift trucks safely
•Handle awkward loads
Course Programme •Safe operating practices and safety video
•Elementary driving
•Explanation, demonstration and guided practice in the correct procedures to adopt when operating a forklift truck
•Battery care or refuelling
•Daily inspection procedures
•Checking the truck
•Correct operating procedures
•Handling empty pallets
•Safe working loads
•Fork truck stability
•Correct operating procedures
•Practical
•Competence testing
Duration: 2 Days

Training Times: 8.30 am-4.30 pm

Who should attend
Experienced operators who are familiar with the steering characteristics of the lift truck and have the ability to manoeuvre both forward and reverse in a confined area. They should also be experienced in load handling functions.

Assessment:
Participants complete a theoretical and practical exam

Certification:
On successful completion of the exam participants are awarded an RTITB Forklift Operators Experienced Certificate. Candidates are registered on a central RTITB database. (certification valid for 3 years)

Prerequisites: •6 months operational experience
•One Passport Photograph
•PPE (personal protective equipment), i.e. Hard Hat, High Visibility Vest, Steel Toe Capped Boots, Gloves
